From the Chambers of Judge “Seen It All”
I settle in with my morning tea and open the first round of evidence in the Captain Conflict vs. Reality case.
Page one: accusations.
Page two: more accusations.
Page three: still more accusations.
Here’s the problem — there’s a lot of theatrics, but no theatre. No proof. No witnesses. Just one man’s stream of consciousness… which reads like it was written in the parking lot before court.
Then I hit the other side’s evidence. Oh, joy. Dates. Receipts. Screenshots. Timelines. Chronology. Actual proof. I can almost hear the sound of Captain Conflict’s case sinking like a brick in a swimming pool.
And yet, he keeps repeating the same wild stories — like if he says “she attacked me” enough times, I’ll conjure up an image in my head and forget to notice there’s no evidence and then ignore her forensic doctors evidence. Newsflash: I’ve been on this bench too long to fall for courtroom fairy tales.
At this point, I’m just wondering how many more rounds of this I’ll have to endure before I get to write the two words every judge dreams of: Case dismissed.
